about Tanika
Tanika Powers was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her passion for art came at an early age and kept growing. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with the concentration of Painting and Printmaking in 2016 at the University of Alabama. After college, she continued with her art and self exploration while living in a small town, where culture goes to die, in Alabama . She moved back to Ohio in 2017 and continues with evolving her art.

artist statement
My work is sparked from my interactions with men, my sexuality, and my self awareness. I am my muse. Control in my life plays a part in my work. I try new processes and point of views with my work but the body remains the subject. I am concerned with my sexual appetite and what it means to be a plus size woman in this society.
